Kason turns 7...

I've decided February birthday's are kinda the pits. It's (usually) too cold to go do anything and you get stuck having a boring birthday inside. But, Kason never seems to mind. He's pretty easy going like that!

Birthday morning he got his 'traditional' pancake breakfast before school. 7 years old -- how does this happen!?! It tugs at my heart strings to think that my one and only is 7 years old (and is now, half way to 8, meaning he'll be getting baptized. Stop it! Life isn't fair...)

He shared his birthday with a classmate so, those kids got double the sugar that day. Kason wanted 'Minecraft' cupcakes this year. With a Harry Potter cake.

We surprised Kason and took him to lunch on his birthday. He chose to eat at Subway. Then I tried to keep him home with me but, he wanted to go back to school. Such a little scholar! (Actually, lets be honest, friends are way more fun than mom...)

That night we had sweet & sour chicken & a Harry Potter cake. Simple, low-key birthdays: just the way I like it.

Kason is a cuddle-bug. If we would cuddle with him all day, every day, he would be all for that. He is so incredibly helpful and will go out of his way to help other people. He can talk your ear off from sun-up to sun-down. (And he does most days...) He's goofy and funny. Kinda spacey but smart. And one of the most compassionate people I know! I feel pretty lucky to have him in our family.

I had every intention of doing his birthday interview right around his birthday but, instead, it's happening 6 months later. So, consider this his 7.5 birthday interview...

A few other fun Kason moments:

He had to do a report on an Arctic animal. Kason chose to do is report on Grey Whales. He thought it was so much fun to do all the research and put together his report. One can only hope he keeps up that enthusiasm.

He also lost his first tooth!!! It had been wiggly for awhile (months) and finally Brad wanted to try and pull it out. He barely tugged on it and it fell right out! Kason was over-the-moon excited!!

Kason had started reading the first Harry Potter months ago. But, when his school had their reading challenge in March, it gave him the motivation to finish the book. He read the whole book! It was pretty awesome. Because of that, month long, reading challenge, he got a gold medal since he read over 1700 minutes in one month. He also got his picture on the "hall of fame" at school because he earned 100 quiz points from the books he read. Pretty fun month for him!

We are pretty proud of this kid!!!
